Sami Walking Experience

This walking tour was the absolute highlight of our trip! Per was just incredible. Being Sami himself, he didn’t just share fascinating insights into the city's history, but also gave us an authentic, deep look into Sami culture.
Instead of rattling off memorized facts, the entire tour felt like a warm, casual conversation with a local. He brought so much passion, shared brilliant anecdotes, and kept us laughing with his great sense of humor.
If you want to truly experience Tromsø rather than just sightsee, this tour is a must. A huge thank you to our amazing guide for an unforgettable time!

I'm so glad that we book-ended our holiday in North Norway with 2 tours: a RIB ride in Svolvaer at the start and with Per at the end. Both were excellent experiences.
We were fortunate in having Per to ourselves on the day and so had free reign to shower him with questions and he did a cracking job of rounding off our holiday - we feel we have a lot more insight about the Sami and indeed the Norse as they spread north: it's the most interesting place I've been in a decade - and Per brought it alive.

Our time with Per and the Sámi Walking Experience was wonderful! His personal lived experience as a Sámi brought a unique perspective and his knowledge of Sámi history and culture enriched the whole experience. We took this tour at the end of our time in Tromsø and we had already done a tour at a Sámi camp, but he taught us so much more and deepened our understanding and appreciation of Tromsø and the Sámi. Aside from his knowledge, Per is very personable and facilitated great connection among the group members, we left feeling like we had made new friends. It undoubtedly was one of our favorite experiences of the trip and we highly recommend others take a walk with Per if you want to have a broader understanding of the history and culture of the region!
